REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE OLD GRAVEYARD.

   The committee chosen at the last annual town meeting to carry out the order of the County Commissioners in relation to the widening of Central Street, and to make the improvements upon the Old Graveyard authorized by Chapter 116 of the Acts of 1886, have attended to their duty, and submit the following

REPORT:

   The work of widening Central Street and improving the Old Graveyard was commenced in May and completed in June, 1887.

   The work of removing the remains of all persons known to have been buried in that part of said graveyard taken for the widening of the street, was first undertaken.

   Williams Latham, Esq., published his unique and most valuable work, entitled, "Epitaphs in Old Bridgewater," in 1882.   This book contains a diagram of the Old Graveyard, in which every known grave is numbered.

   The committee deemed it wise to adopt the numbers of the graves as given by Mr. Latham, and to preserve a complete record of the changes made in the location of any graves removed, showing their new location, so that they may be readily found by the aid of said book and said record.   We hereunder give that record, hoping that it may be printed with other town reports, and recorded in full in the record books of the town, that the memory of these things may he preserved to future generations.

   Record of the changes made in the graves in the Old Graveyard in East Bridgewater, in May, 1887;
