FAMILIES IN THE
NORTH PARISH, NOW NORTH BRIDGEWATER.
Daniel Ames, and Benjamin Ames, were sons of John, the son of John, who was son of William Ames of Braintree, and nephew to John Ames, who was one of the first settlers in Bridgewater.
These brothers, John, and William, were sons of Richard Ames, of Bruton, in Somersetshire, in England. John the nephew, (born in 1651,) removed to Bridgewater; John his uncle had no children, and gave him his property.
M. a Keith, had five ss. John, Timothy, Noah, Daniel, and Job; and three ds. Sarah, Hannah, and Phebe.Sarah m. Benjamin Fuller; Hannah m. Israel Burr; Phebe died a single woman. Daniel Ames died of the small-pox 1778, aged 66.
1. John m. a Park; was a physician, settled at Rehoboth.
2. Timothy m. a Howard; had two children; they both died young. He m. a Carver for a second wife; had one s Theron; and three ds. Nabby, Sibil, and Phebe. Nabby m. Oliver Bryant; Sibil m. Capt. Jeremiah Beals; Thereon m. a Packard.
3. Noah m. a French; had 1 s. John, who m. a Southworth. Noah and his son, removed to Winthrop, Maine.
4. Daniel 2d m. a Perkins; had to ss. Benjamin, and Josiah. Benjamin m. a French; had one son Daniel; and two ds. Damaris, and Nancy.
