Came from Ipswich; his wife was a Perkins; had five ss. Samuel, Anthony, John, Nathaniel, and Veren; and four ds. Mary, Sarah, Anna, and Abigail. Mary m. Job Ames; Sarah m. Lieut. Ephraim Noyes; Anna m. James Loud.
Samuel Dike died 1800, aged 79.
1. Samuel 2nd m. a Fuller; had four ss. Fuller, Oliver, Nathaniel, and Samuel; and three ds. Lucinda, Olive, and Rebecca. He afterward m. a Howard; had one s. Bela. Olive m. Joseph Shaw; Rebecca m. a Bisbee; Fuller and Nathaniel live in Maine; Oliver m. a Howard; Samuel 3d m. a Burrell.
2. Anthony m. a Pool; was a Captain in the militia. He removed to Plymouth.
3. John lives in Beverly.
4. Nathaniel died in youth.
5. Veren settled in Southbury, Conn.
Had one s. William; and one d. Isabel. He and his two children emigrated from Scotland to America about 1735. He settled on the farm where Howard Cary, Esq. now lives. His daughter m. Barnabas Pratt. His son died 1747, aged 23.
The following Epitaph is on his grave-stone on the plain.

Mr. Downie was so afflicted with the loss of his son, that he sold his property, and went back to Scotland.
Was son of James Dunbar of Hingham; m. a Howard; had seven ss. Jacob, Lemuel, Elisha, Nathaniel, Seth, Peter, and Silas; and one d. Abigail, who m. a Gilmore.
Elisha Dunbar died 1773, aged 74.
