Harwich Queries

A queries page is not a shortcut for research. It is intended to aid those who have already exhausted easily available sources of information and are looking for information from new, obscure or hard-to-find sources. If you submit a query the webmaster may reject it if he decides that you should first pursue other avenues of research.

This queries page is intended only for genealogical research. Please ask specific genealogical questions about specific individuals. General inquiries about families, or inquiries such as searches for living relatives, are not appropriate and will not be posted.

This page is reserved for queries about people who lived in Harwich. If you do not know the Barnstable County town of residence for a person you should post your query in the Plymouth Colony Forums.

ELDREDGE / BASSETT

My ancestor, Obediah ELDREDGE, lived in Harwich. On 24-Nov-1781 he and Mrs. Anna BASSETT filed marriage intentions. I cannot find the date of marriage or the parents of Anna. Some research says that this couple were among the founders of the Harwich Baptist Church. Queries there have not been answered. Any ideas?

Seeking any information about Benjamin Derby LEMOINE / LEMINE / LEMOYNE, born 25-Jan-1761, died 23-Feb-1815. Would also like to find documentation for his marriage to Susannah ELDRED 14-Dec-1786.

ROBINSON

Seeking information on James ROBINSON, Jr., b. about 1811, and apprenticed to Nathan UNDERWOOD, Esq., from 15-Dec-1824 to 03-Sep-1832, when he was 21 years old. Josiah PAINE called James Jr. an "Englishman". James Jr. was found dead in a salt pound 22-June 1841. Where did James come from? Who were his parents? How did he get to Harwich?
