   9.   BENJAMIN3 (Benjamin2 Thomas1), b. in Hing. Jan. 16, 1671-72.   m. Jan. 18, 1694-95, Mary Lewis, dau. of Lieut. James and Sarah (Lane) Lewis of Barnstable, Mass.   She was b. at B. 1670, and d. in Hing. 30 Dec. 1744, æt. 74 yrs.   He d. suddenly 10 July, 1727, æt. 55 yrs.   "Maltster."   Selectman 1723 to 1727 inc.; town-clerk 1721 to 1727 inc., and deacon of the church of the First Parish.   Will dated 11 Feb. 1724-25.   Resided on the paternal homestead, North, corner of Lincoln St.

   10.   THOMAS3 (Benjamin2 Thomas1), b. in Hing. Dec. 12, 1674.   m. Nov. 7, 1695, Rachel Holmes, perh. dau. of Abraham and Elizabeth Holmes of Rochester, Mass.   Thomas was by occupation "weaver."   He removed from Hing. with his fam. ab. 1707 to Harwich, Mass., where he was a deacon of the church.   The
   Ch. of Thomas and Rachel were —

   i.   RACHEL, b. in Hing. Nov. 8, 1696.   m Feb. 13, 1717-18, Benjamin Hopkins.
   ii.   THOMAS, 1700.   m. 1725, Sarah, dau. of Major Edward Winslow.   She survived him, and m. (2) May 31, 1731, James Whitcomb of Rochester, who subsequently removed to Warren, Mass.   She was the mother of twelve ch.   Thomas d. at R. 15 June, 1730, æt. 30 yrs.
   iii.   SARAH, b. in Hing. Apr. 1, 1702.   m. Feb. 27, 1723-24, Jabez Lewis of Barnstable.
   iv.   NATHANIEL, b. in Hing. July 6, 1704.   m. Hannah Asten, and had sons Thomas and Nathaniel, who m. and left issue.

   11.   JOSIAH4 (Josiah3 Thomas2-1), b. in Hing. May 6, 1728.   m. first Molly, dau. of John and Sarah Holbrook of Wey.   She was b. May 28, 1734, and d. in Hing. 1 Oct. 1765, æt. 31 yrs.   He m. secondly, June 18, 1767, Abigail Andrews, dau. of Thomas and Elizabeth (Jacob) Andrews.   She was b. in Hing. June 6, 1729, and d. Oct. 1793, æt. 64yrs.   He d. 8 Nov. 1795, æt. 68th yr.   "Farmer."   Constable in 1763.   Resided on North, corner of Thaxter St.
   Ch, b. in Hing., by w. Molly, were —

   i.   JOSIAH, March 27, 1761, d. 24 Sept. 1762.
   ii.   MOLLY, July 22, 1763.   m. Feb. 20, 1783, Robert Goold of Hull, and d. in Hing. 4 Nov. 1847, æt. 84 yrs.

   12.   JOSEPH4 (Josiah3 Thomas2-1), b. in Hing. Sept. 16, 1731.   m. Apr. 21, 1775, Elizabeth Beal, dau. of John, Jr., and Mary (Litchfield) Beal.   She was b. in Hing. Feb. 6, 1741-42, and surviving him, m. secondly, Dec. 10, 1787, Elijah Lincoln, widr.   She d. 24 Sept. 1818, æt. 77th yr.   Joseph d. 20 March. 1776, æt. 45th yr.   Resided at West Hing.
