1. JOHN, by occupation "mariner," was in active service during the Mexican War, in the U. S. Navy. His w. was Sarah Hazelton. She d. 4 Aug. 1871, æt. 78 yrs. He d. 12 Oct. 1850, æt. 56 yrs. A monument erected to their memory stands in the Hing. cemetery, where both hus. and w. are buried.

He m. secondly, Nov. 19, 1857, Hannah E. W. Sharp, his first w.'s sister. She was b. at New Portland, Me., 1840. John S. d. at Salisbury Prison, N. C., 16 Jan. 1865, æt. 33 yrs. Resided in Hing., on Free St. (See "Hingham in the Civil War.")

1. WILLIAM, a native of Ire., m. in Hing. Sept. 23, 1828, Mary R. French, dau. of George and Anna (Rice) French. She was b. in Hing.
