Lucy, dau. of Joseph and Lucy (Sprague) Thaxter.   Resided at Portland, Me., where he d. 14 Apr. 1884, æt. 89 yrs.   He held many positions of honor and trust at Portland as representative, alderman and city clerk.   Also president of the Mechanic Association, a member of the masonic body, bank director, etc.

   4.   WILLIAM (James = Deborah Thaxter), b. in Hing. May 4, 1774.   m. Oct. 26, 1797, Rebecca Fearing, dau. of Nathaniel and Deborah (Hobart) Fearing.   She was b. in Hing. Sept. 1, 1775, and surviving him, m. secondly, Oct. 27, 1805, William Hersey.   William Todd d. 28 Sept. 1800, æt. 26 yrs.

   i.   REBECCA FEARING, March 21, 1800.   m. Oct. 1, 1820, George Barnes, and d. 4 Oct. 1848, æt. 48 yrs.

   5.   JOHN (James = Deborah Thaxter), b. in Hing. Dec. 6, 1788.   m. July 7, 1808, Chloe Sprague, dau. of Amos and Desire (Stodder) Sprague.   She was b. in Hing. May 21, 1790, and d. 23 Dec. 1821, æt. 32d yr.   John was killed at the battle of Chippewa,* 12 May, 1813, æt. 24 yrs.

   i.   ANN MARIA, Dec. 1, 1808.   m. Jan. 8, 1834, John Siders.
   ii.   WILLIAM, Sept. 21, 1810, d. at St. Mary's, W. I., while in a vessel commanded by Capt. John B. Amedy.

   6.   JOHN (John = Chloe Sprague), b. in Hing. Jan. 25, 1813.   m. Jan. 25, 1838, Abigail C. Barnes, dau. of Lincoln and Betsey (Ellms) Barnes.   She was b. in Hing. Feb. 23, 1817, and d. 22 Dec. 1878, æt. 62d yr.   "Merchant tailor;" and for many yrs. superintendent of the Hing. cemetery.   Resides on Lincoln St.
