RECORDS FROM THE CEMETERY NEAR THE
CONGREGATIONAL CHAPEL, MARSHFIELD, MASS.

COMMUNICATED BY JOHN W. WILLARD

   IN July, 1906, the writer, with the assistance of Messrs. Stanley W. Smith, Arthur E. Linnell and the late Edward H. Whorf, copied and carefully verified all inscriptions dated prior to 1851, with a few of later date, found in the Cemetery near the Congregational Chapel at Marshfield, Mass.   These copies were presented to the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, and all genealogical facts contained in the inscriptions will be found in the following abstracts.

Bethia, wife of Sumner, died 2 May, 1843, in her 30th year.   [On stone with son Eugene Chauncey.]
Eugene Chauncey, died 27 August, 1842, aged 9 months, 16 days.   [On his mother's stone.]
John T., son of Elijah, Jr., and Sarah, died 13 March, 1813, aged 16 months.
Lucy, wife of Robert, died 7 July, 1868, aged 89 years, 7 months.   [On stone with husband and daughter Priscilla W.]
Priscilla W., daughter of Robert and Luceanna, died 14 September, 1849, aged 27 years, 5 months, 13 days.   [Also on another stone, with Robert and "Lucy".]
Robert, died 18 July, 1824, aged 46 years, 3 days.   [On stone with wife Lucy and daughter Priscilla W.]

BAKER
Alden S., died 21 January, 1840, aged 3 months.   [On stone with William, died 1873, and his wife Caroline, died 1885.]
Charles, died 22 December, 1846, aged 75 years.   [On stone with wife Miriam, and Mrs. Eleanor Sampson.]
Cushing, son of Joseph and Olive, died 25 September, 1842, aged 11 years, 8 months, 27 days.
Joshua, son of Capt. Joshua and Sarah, died in June, 1816, aged 22 years.
Joshua, Capt., died 12 August, 1836, aged 72 years.

        * On stone with Sarah, wife, and Sarah, daughter, of Capt. Joshua.
