Plymouth County Genealogists, Inc., was first organized May 3, 1975, as the Massachusetts Society of Genealogists, Plymouth County Chapter, meeting in Bridgewater. On January 7, 1978, it was reorganized and incorporated as Plymouth County Genealogists, Inc., a non-profit society dedicated to the advancement of genealogy as a hobby and a profession, to promote the sharing of accurate documentation, and to explore new avenues of research. There are currently about 75 members within Plymouth County, in Massachusetts, and across the United States.

We are a non-profit society of genealogists at all levels of proficiency, from beginners to professionals. Unless otherwise specified in the newsletter or on this web site, PCGI meetings are held the first Saturday of each month at 1:00 p.m. (excepting July and August) in the lower level meeting room of the East Bridgewater Public Library. Society meetings are always open to the public, and anyone interested in genealogy, at any level of proficiency, is encouraged to join us. Meetings are comprised of a short business meeting, then either a talk about some facet of genealogical research, a workshop to address specific genealogical problems or research techniques, or perhaps a field trip to genealogical resource or repository.

Our newsletter, The Genealogical Inquirer, is published ten times each year, each issue having ten pages of genealogical news, resources, hints, and a calendar of genealogical activities. The newsletter is free to all members. We exchange newsletters with more than 20 other genealogical societies in the United States and Canada.

At the East Bridgewater Public Library the society maintains several bookcases in the upper level reference room devoted to genealogy and the society. There is a members' card index and a group of pedigree chart binders. We encourage sharing information among members who are researching similar lines or family branches. Also in our cabinets are genealogical reference books, newsletters and other resource materials.

Memberships for those in the United States are $15.00 for individuals, or $17.50 for a family of two members residing in the same household. Memberships for out-of-country members are $17.50 for individuals or $20.00 for a family. For more information see the About Us page.
