Zenith 89 Hypermetron - 1931-32
|
The 80-series Hypermetrons used a new chassis similar to the 70 series but with three RF amps in place of the 70's two. The 89 (60 cycle) and 892 (25 cycle) used the same cabinet as the previous season's 79. The 82 (60 cycle) and 822 (25 cycle) used a unique cabinet.
The tube complement is: 3 x 24 R.F., 24 detector, 27 1st audio, 2 x 27 push-pull driver, 2 x 45 push-pull output, 80 rectifier. This set is currently in the shop for chassis restoration and minor cabinet work. The illustration is actually a 79. When I finish the 89 I'll need help placing it in position for a photograph - it is the heaviest set in my collection. The cabinet is solid wood, has six legs and needs them all.
