Master Dial Belt Index
|
If you have any sets that use dial belts this index may come in handy. It lists pre-WWII sets and shows which GC, JFD or Walsco replacement belts fit each set. It also contains dimensions for all the replacement belts and has interchange charts between the replacement lines. This is an Adobe Acrobat PDF file. This version of the index is dated April 13, 2003.
Hickok Bulletins
Here is a small collection of Hickok tube tester bulletins in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
Jewell Radio Set Analysis Form
You've seen these in Rider or in old radio magazines - the Jewell Form No. 2085. Here you can download GIF files of full sized 300 dpi scans of the front (form) and back (instructions) of this classic serviceman's form. I recently (August, 2002) rescanned and reprocessed these with better software. They are fairly large files - the front is 92.9k and the back is 104k.
Weston Tube Base Data Connections and Chart
|
Here's another little gem - an April 1937 chart for use with the "Weston Methods of Selective Analysis." It is form number R-14-A-15M-4/37, printed on ivory stock. To download 300 dpi line art scans of both sides click on the image. You'll get westube.zip (384k), containing two .gif files that show base diagrams for just about all of the receiving tube types available at the time.
Battery Sets
|
This is a work in progress - a guide to the battery voltages needed to operate 1920s battery sets. I began with the schematics in the first three volumes of Rider and have been adding other information as I have come across it. I've used other sources of service data, old owner's manuals, and the advice and experience of other collectors. If you find incorrect information here or have something to add please send me an email. This is an adobe Acrobat PDF file. This version of the file is dated April 13, 2003.
The illustration is an advertisement for Eveready Layerbilt No. 468 "B" batteries from the February, 1927 issue of National Geographic Magazine.

A Universal Shop Speaker and Dummy Field Coil will show you how to build a shop accessory that is especially useful for those who work with field-coil sets. This accessory will let you leave the speaker, field coil and transformer behind in the cabinet in while you have a chassis on the bench. It is especially useful when your electronic shop is as small as mine. Schematics and parts sources are included.
Computer Programs
|
Although I did not write it (but wish I had) I must point you to an extremely useful (and free) item that all radio restorers should have. It is Scott Harvey's Universal Schematic Locator for Rider, Beitman and Sams. Scott's program makes it easy to search for a schematic with even partial information, such a partial model number or partial chassis number.
