Whitman Queries
A queries page is not a shortcut for research. It is intended to aid those who have already exhausted easily available sources of information and are looking for information from new, obscure or hard-to-find sources. If you submit a query the webmaster may reject it if he decides that you should first pursue other avenues of research.
This queries page is intended only for genealogical research. Please ask specific genealogical questions about specific individuals. General inquiries about families, or inquiries such as searches for living relatives, are not appropriate and will not be posted.
This page is reserved for queries about people who lived in Whitman. If you do not know the Plymouth County town of residence for a person you should post your query on the Plymouth County Queries Page or in the Plymouth Colony Forums.
I've prepared a submission form for queries. Please submit a seperate query for each surname and feel free to post as many Whitman queries as you wish.
PLEASE NOTE that email addresses on this page other than my own are displayed as graphics, not as links. I understand that this is inconvenient for some visitors, especially those who are visually impaired. I believe that it is necessary in order to reduce spam and protect the privacy of those posting queries. If you have any difficulty reading an email graphic you can click on it to view a magnified version. If you prefer you can send me email with the name of the person who placed the query and I will send you their email address.

REED / COOK
June 3, 2008; Marvin Reed
![]()
Seeking someone knowledgeable about Henry Wilson Reed (1826-1908) and his wife Lucy Ann Cook [Reed] (1927-1917) of Abington, South Abington, Whitman and/or their descendants, who would undertake to assist me in identifying a few family portraits (photos) that have been handed down through three generations to me. Most of these photos were processed and mounted by studios then operating in Abington, Rockland or nearby -- but my forebears did not add any back notes identifying the subjects of these portraits. These photos presumably are from various periods between c. 1870s and 1920s.
Among those families whose members conceivably could be of assistance are Reed, Cook, Osborne, Benson, Casewell, Winslow, Glover, Hatch, and Sampson. Any others who think they may be able to asist would be welcome to respond as well.
I would be glad to forward examples by e-mail to those who feel that they may have relevant knowledge and/or who may have access to relevant photos for comparison purposes.

Please note that although I was born and raised about 5 miles from Whitman I now live hundreds of miles away and do not have easy access to the town.
