March 16, 2008 We have a new address! Many USGenWeb sites have relocated, and we have, too. Please bookmark our new address.
March 26, 2007 James Heffernan has transcribed a seven-page manuscript written by then Town Clerk Lewis Bradford about 1850, and containing information about some of the town's early families.
January 15, 2004 I've added gravestone transcriptions from four Plympton cemeteries that were published in Mayflower Descendant. The largest is the Hillcrest Cemetery, also known as the Old Cemetery. The other three cemeteries are small - the Congregational Church Cemetery, North Plympton Cemetery and the Smallpox Cemetery.
April 6, 2003 Welcome to the brand new Plympton USGenWeb page. I'll be posting notices here as new resources are added to the site.

NEHGS is nation's oldest genealogical society, founded in 1845. It offers unsurpassed resources for New England research including the Boston research library of over 200,000 volumes. Members not in the Boston area appreciate their extensive online resources including all issues of The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, the nation's oldest genealogical journal, published quarterly since 1847. Online resources also include member access to vital records through 1915, an ever-growing collection of online books, and databases derived from some of the Society's immense manuscript holdings.
In 1640 the first grants of lands were made in Winnetuxet - the area that in 1695 became the western precinct of Plymouth. In the latter year the first meeting-house was built. In 1707 the precinct was incorporated as Plympton, the seventh town in Plymouth County. In 1734 the area of the town was diminished by some 5,000 acres which became part of the new town of Halifax. The size of the town was again diminished in 1790 when the southern precinct was incorporated as the new town of Carver.
